Deborah Kass, Barbara Bloom, and Bruce Nauman

Deborah Kass's opening at Paul Kasmin was packed last night. Thankfully, her work is big so it was easy to get a good look at it. The quotation inside the neon work above comes from Louise Bourgeois (whose collaboration with Tracey Emin is on view over at Carolina Nitsch Project Room right now). Kass has painted the spiraling text in the past, but here it is spelled out in bright Bruce Nauman neon. I'd like to lobby for more art that riffs on Nauman. Barbara Bloom's Nauman charm bracelet was, for example, an absolute joy to look at when it appeared in her show at Tracy Williams earlier this year.
